La Vista, NE –
For the second year in a row, Nebraska Brewing Company is proud to host the Nebraska Hop Cup. The Nebraska Hop Cup is an annual Nebraska craft brew competition in benefit of the Nebraska Hop Growers Association (NHGA) & the Nebraska Craft Brewers Guild (NCBG).

The 2nd annual event will feature 14 Competing Nebraska Breweries and their specially created beer made with 100% Nebraska grown hops, which will compete in a ‘Peoples Choice’ competition on Saturday January 24th, 2015. The event, held at the Nebraska Brewing Company Tap Room (6950 S 108th Street, La Vista, NE 68128) will cost $25 per person and run from 6pm to 9pm. For the first 2 hours, attendees will be treated to unlimited four ounce samples of each of the competing beers, and they are able to vote for their favorite to win the traveling “Nebraska Hop Cup”.

When voting for the Hop Cup winner at 8pm, votes will be tallied and all remaining beer will be sold at $5 a pint.

Paul Kavulak, President of Nebraska Brewing Company & Vice President of the NCBG comments: “We’re thrilled to provide the venue to showcase what we can do within Nebraska relative to our native hops and native brewing talent. Both of these industries rely so heavily upon each other and we’ve known within our own circles for a long time the amazing beers we can produce together – we seek moments such as this to embrace and show the general public as well.”

“The Hop Cup serves as an opportunity for the craft beer community and hop growers to collaborate through a competition that raises awareness of growing industries right here in Nebraska. The event raises awareness of the independently owned growers and brewers that are actively working to grow Nebraska’s economy along with their industry that creates jobs, investment and significant economic impact in our state’, says Caleb Pollard, President of the NCBG.

Silas Clark, Partner in DK Hop growers and NHGA board member, notes that the “NHGA and the individual hop growers are committed to support local growers and brewers and are excited to co-host the only competition where Nebraska commercial breweries brew beer with only locally grown hops”.
